Annual Events
Spring At The Village
Tulip Time is held the first Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
in May. The festival celebrates Pella's Dutch Heritage with
parades, stage performances, a Dutch market, street
scrubbings, and quilt and flower shows.
Catch a glimpse of life in The Netherlands as the Historical Village comes alive in a whirl of crafts, Dutch Street organ music, dancing and food. The quaint buildings and beautiful tulip gardens are a "touch of Holland." During the festival the village is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Summer At The Village
The Village is alive with color from various plantings. The doorstep gardens are known as Vrouw (ladies) gardens in The Netherlands. The garden behind the log cabin is full of perennial heritage flowers. Annuals fill several other memorial beds.
Educational programs continue in the summer months with a Dutch Day Camp for students in 4th and 5th grades. The Village partners with Central College and sponsors an Elderhostel focusing on Dutch History.
Fall At The Village
Fall Festival is the 4th weekend of September. Activities include a quilt show, fall flower show, flea market, working crafters, ethnic food and Dutch music.
Winter At The Village
The Christmas Walk at the Historical
Village opens in mid-November and
continues through December 31.
Hours are 9 to 4 daily Monday
through Saturday. All twenty-two
buildings are decorated for the
holidays. Coffee time is served to
visitors in the Dutch Bakery.
Sinterklaas, the Dutch Santa, arrives in Pella usually the Saturday following Thanksgiving. The strolling Volks Parade forms at the Historical Village and goes to the Tulip Toren for a brief program of welcome.
